Virtual GP Consultation

How do I schedule a virtual GP consultation?

To schedule a consultation, simply sign up and create a new order for a GP consultation. After submitting your health assessment and completing payment for your consultation fee, you can choose a suitable date and time for your consultation, and follow the instructions for setting up a virtual appointment.

What types of conditions can be treated through Contro’s online GP Consultation service?

Our GP Consultation service can address a wide range of conditions, including colds, flu, allergies, skin issues, infections, acute injuries, stomach issues and more. Please see above for a full list. 

Who is Contro’s GP Consultation service not suitable for?

Our GP Consultation is not suitable:

  • Anyone under 18
  • If you have a shortness of breath, wheezing, or having difficulty breathing
  • If you have chest pain
  • If you are experiencing confusion
  • If you have been hospitalized during the past week
  • If you have severe neck pain with sensitivity to light or sound
  • If you are experiencing dizziness and low amounts of urine
  • If you need paperwork for disability evaluation, physicals for employment or work compensation
  • If you need a referral
  • If you need a pathology test
  • New diagnosis or treatment of ADHD, bipolar, psychosis, or other mood or mental health disorders
  • Refills of any previous prescriptions (unless listed above)
  • Any urgent treatment or medical emergency

If any of the above apply to you, please seek in-person treatment. 

How do I get my medication after a GP consultation?

After a successful virtual GP consultation, your assigned Partner Doctor will issue your prescription which will be sent to your email address shortly after your consultation. You can then take this to your local pharmacy.

Can I use my medical aid?

At this time, you cannot use your medical aid to cover your consultation fees. However, after a successful consultation you will be emailed your prescription which can be taken to your local pharmacy for dispensing. Depending on your plan, you will be able to use your scheme or savings to cover the cost of your medication.  

What are the different communication methods used for a GP Consultation?

Patients can choose to have their GP consultation session via a phone call or a video call using Google Meet at a time of their choice.

How long does a GP Consultation last?

Consultations are 15 minutes long. If you have more than one issue to discuss, you may need to make another order and booking to discuss that matter at another time. 

How much does Contro’s GP Consultations cost?

A virtual GP consultation with one of our Partner Doctors costs R350. This includes all doctors fees, service and prescription fees. 

 

After a successful consultation, you will be emailed your prescription to take to your local pharmacy. The cost of your medication will depend on your diagnosis and prescribed medication.
